First blood of UK General Election 2005

You expect politicians to say stupid things and especially when they’re campaigning and pandering as hard as they can to the public’s every whim.  As the various parties launched their campaigns, Liberal Democrats leader Charles Kennedy drew the first blood, aptly from himself as he made the profound statement …

“I want the Liberal Democrats to be a positive force for good.”

I’d be interested to hear Mr Kennedy’s views on how a party might manage to be a positive force for evil or a negative force for good.  Perhaps someone should pass young Charlie a dictionary with the word “Tortology” circled and bookmarked as he sits in the corner writing his lines; “I will not make stupid comments.  I will not make stupid comments.  I will not make stupid comments.”

Now all we need to spice the election up are some admissions from Michael Howard about what a trendy “dude” he really is and what is the largest number of pints he’s ever drunk (Beer, not blood).  Then if someone could make some rude comments to that lovely John Prescott, we might even get to see that glorious left hook in action once more.  Roll on May 5th (And roll on May 19th even more as this is when Star Wars Episode III is out in cinemas … Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)
